Orchestral and Chamber Music:
Upon entering F.H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (gaining entry as a guitarist), Joshua took up the viola as a second instrument. Within three years he was playing viola in several student chamber groups and orchestras (led by Jonathan Strasser). At University of Chicago he played viola in the University Symphony (led by Barbara Schubert) as well as the Prism Orchestra.

The string quartet in which he played viola submitted a recording to a citywide competition (sponsored by Lincoln Center) for high school chamber groups. The quartet was among the winners, resulting in their being coached by cellist Fred Sherry and then performing at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Below is an excerpt from their initial submission.

Beethoven: Quartet, Op.18, No.4, movt.1 (excerpt) mp3 0:25
More recently, at a musicale organized by Sig Rosen at Hudson View Gardens, Joshua played viola in a read-through of Monteverdi's Orfeo.
